MISSION STATEMENT


Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Honor Guard is committed to our fundamental responsibility of rendering Honors to Fallen Firefighters with dignity and respect, thereby memorializing their contributions to the Fire Service.  We pledge to preserve and respect the personal sacrifices and values of our founding members, and carry on their legacy by always placing our duty to serve above all else.  ​We will convey and project a sense of pride and honor in our role as the guardians of traditions as we represent Palm Beach County Fire Rescue locally and nationally.​

Comprised of Two Specialty Groups

​Formed in January 1986, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue's Honor Guard represents the department in rendering honors to firefighters killed in the line of duty. The Honor Guard also represents the department at other local ceremonies and events such as parades, grand openings and flag presentation ceremonies.

​The "Marching or Competition Team" is a group of dedicated members that perform well-executed marching drills. Since 1986, the Competition Team has developed into an award-winning unit participating in several state and international competitions. The Competition Team has twice placed first at the state level and again took top honors at the 1st International Honor Guard Competition held April 1990 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The "Pipes and Drums Corps" comprise the Band Battery element of the Honor Guard. These members specialize in playing the traditional bagpipes and drums. Since being added in late 2001, the Pipes and Drums Corps have been one of the most popular elements of the Honor Guard Team.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue's Honor Guard is one of the busiest Honor Guards in the State of Florida. The team averages over 60 events a year. In October 2002, the Honor Guard was invited to participate in two of the biggest memorial services held in the history of the American Fire Service; The National Fallen Firefighter Memorial held in Washington, D.C. and the New York City Firefighter Memorial. Both memorial services were held in recognition of the fallen firefighters that lost their lives on September 11th 2001.  

The Honor Guard is one of the most highly visible representatives of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. The Honor Guard is committed to representing the department with pride, integrity and remembrance.
